This is demonstrative to show how our healthcare system is out of control! I wonder if we looked at the same data for some of the large hospitals over the same period (including some of the so-called not-for-profit hospitals). Another way of measuring hospital growth would be to look at square footage. When I talk to people about the high cost of healthcare and point to the hospitals, just look at a hospital to see if there is newly completed construction or new construction or whether a hospital has plans for new construction.
